UNESCO will allocate $1.5 million for the digitization of the cultural heritage of Ukraine

During a meeting between Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Anastasiia Bondar, Katerina Chuieva, and the Head of UNESCO Office in Ukraine, Katarina Deets Bardeschi, specific steps for implementing the project and getting acquainted with the national expert who will collaborate with the Ministry and assist in integrating plans and strategies to meet present-day challenges and European requirements were discussed, according to the Ministry press-office.

"It was a very productive working meeting with the Head of the UNESCO Office in Ukraine, Katarina Deets Bardeschi. We discussed specific steps and the allocation of $1.5 million through the special UNESCO Heritage in Emergency Fund for the rapid implementation of technical solutions that will allow us to create and develop modern tools for digitizing, monitoring, and preserving Ukrainian culture," said Bondar.

Furthermore, UNESCO will provide 40% of the necessary technical equipment and software for the development of server infrastructure, as well as international consultants to support all processes and assist in developing a strategy for integrating the digital aspect of culture into the European space by July 2023, according to Bondar.
