UOC-MP Opposes Gay Parade in Kyiv
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) opposes the gay parade that will be held in Kyiv, the parish priest of the Church of All Holy Warriors, Fr. Viacheslav Yakovenko, said during a press conference, reported Podrobnosti.
“I would like to address representatives of mass media as this information is very important and ambiguous for some, whereas it is unambiguous for us, the believers. It is unacceptable in our society,” said Fr. Yakovenko. He read out an address to the Kyiv City Council signed by the head of the Synodal Department of UOC-MP on Matters of Youth, Bishop Iona.
“According to the press, in Kyiv, on May 16-19, a forum Kyiv-Pride 2012 is to be held which is to include a procession of sexual perverts, a gay parade. We strongly protest against this so-called cultural event in the capital. The propaganda of sexual perversion will undoubtedly do irreparable damage to the minds of young people and children who may witness this action and will provoke mass protest of the healthy part of the society which will use all possible legal means and methods to stop the agitation in support of sexual perversion,” reads the document.
The author of the address called to use all the necessary power to prohibit the gay parade and initiate approval of legislative acts “to make sure that in the future the organization of such forums will be out of the question.”
