Yatsenyuk on Metropolitan Volodymyr’s death: church and people lost a wise guide
Prime Minister of Ukraine ArseniyYatsenyuk extended condolences over the death of Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian government said that with the death of Metropolitan Volodymyr the Church and the nation had lost a wise leader, reports the press service of the Cabinet.
“I extend my deep condolences to the bishops, clergymen, laity and the plenitude of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in connection with the death of their Primate, Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine,” said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
“The Church and the nation have lost a wise leader, a recognized theologian, pastor, who was a model of high spirituality and humanity for many”.
His Beatitude Volodymyr truly loved his country and wanted its unity and prosperity. He conceived Ukraine a free country in the European family of nations and courageously resisted political pressure and terminal disease. The hierarch left hundreds of disciples and numerous churches, religious schools, monasteries and good memories of millions of Ukrainian. Memory eternal to him”, goes the statement.
