Ukraine has passed a law banning religious organizations associated with Russia. Pope Francis expressed concern over the adoption of this document. This is further evidence of the influence of Russian propaganda abroad at the level of churches and religion.

This was stated yesterday, August 28, by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference at the Ukraine 24. Independence” forum, when answering a question from the FREEDOM TV channel.

“This is about influence. And this influence exists abroad - in Europe, on various religious institutions. The Vatican is no exception. Pope Francis made different statements. Yet, it is very important not to lose touch with the Vatican, Italy, or the information space of the whole of Europe and the United States. On the contrary, we must work even harder to convey our position. It would seem that we have talked about everything so many times. We have had so many meetings in the Vatican at different levels. And yet, every time... This applies not only to the Vatican. As soon as you pause in the information work, in the struggle for a truthful information space, it is immediately filled with Russian information,” Zelensky explained.

The President added that Russia spends enormous resources on its propaganda, with a wide range of people from different fields of activity, including religion, involved in this kind of work.

“The Russian Church is working hard abroad. Thank God, it is stopping such influence and work here in Ukraine. Still, we must continue our work,” Volodymyr Zelensky summarized.
