The sanctions are imposed for five years.

On October 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against Russian oligarchs, companies, collaborators and artists. Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of Moscow is also among those who are subject to restrictions. This was reported by the President's Office website.

But, unlike everyone else, sanctions against the Russian "spiritual leader" are imposed for five years.

The individuals and legal entities included in the list are subject to the following sanctions:

o blocking of their assets on the territory of Ukraine;
o restriction of their trading operations;
o are subject to restriction or termination of the transit of resources, flights and transportation through the territory of Ukraine;
o revocation of their licenses and other permits that are required for a particular type of activity,
o in particular, permits for the use of mineral resources;
o their participation in the privatization and leasing of state property is prohibited;
o they are deprived of state awards of Ukraine and other distinctions;
o their official visits are cancelled;
o their cultural exchanges and scientific cooperation are terminated;
o acquisition and ownership of land plots are prohibited.

The sanctions are generally imposed on more than 3,600 legal entities and individuals. Thus, Decree No. 727/2022 imposed sanctions against 256 oligarchs for 10 years.
