During an interview on TBN with Protestant journalist Joel Rosenberg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described accusations against the Ukrainian authorities regarding the oppression of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate as "manipulations."
This was reported by the Telegram channel 7х70.
According to him, over 70% of Ukrainians are believers, and the state does not restrict their freedom of religion. He emphasized that no one is being persecuted; rather, the law only prohibits religious organizations from having legal ties with the "aggressor country" — Russia.
Zelensky pointed out that this is a legal requirement during wartime, not a closure of churches. Journalist Rosenberg expressed gratitude for the explanation and described the accusations of persecution as “a terrible lie.” Additionally, he presented President Zelensky with a Hebrew Bible from Jerusalem.
