VATICAN CITY, OCT. 29, 2001(Zenit.org) Lubomyr Cardinal Husar, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, has been named to a 15-member council that will help the Pope write a postsynodal exhortation. The synod of Catholic bishops, which discussed the theme “the figure of the bishop,” officially closed with a Mass last Saturday.

Cardinal Jan P. Schotte, secretary-general of the Synod of Bishops, published the list of names of the 15 members of the postsynodal council. Twelve were chosen by the synod fathers and three were appointed by John Paul II. The Holy Father named Cardinal Husar, a Polish and a Mexican archbishop. Among other things, the members will collaborate with John Paul II in writing the final document, or postsynodal exhortation, which will include the conclusions of the assembly on the figure of the bishop.
