Sofia Opatska, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, notes:

"As a strategy, we chose a similar model to the American one – to attract the best students.1% of the top graduates in the United States study at the top 20 American universities. Our strategy is similar because we want to have strong graduates who will influence social processes in the country, be loyal to Alma Mater, and invest in the development of UCU.

Why do we manage to attract the best? First, all the programs that UCU runs are different from those that are already on the market. We are not interested in opening another program that is available at other universities. Therefore, each program of the Ukrainian Catholic University is unique, special, and brings value to the student. Second, strong groups. When you choose an educational institution, it is important to take a closer look at who teaches you and with whom you will study. Very often, the group is no less important than the contributor, because if the group is strong, then the teacher can work at the appropriate level."

Belonging to the top 5% first-year students in Ukraine among those of the UCU is the average of all first-year bachelor's degree programs with three EIT certificates.

This indicator is calculated based on the number of applicants in the country who passed the EIT for the corresponding score and entered the top 5% of the EIT score among all applicants in the country.

Such calculations are carried out according to open data of the Ukrainian Center for Education Quality Assessment.
