This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
A recent survey revealed that 46% of respondents expressed trust or somewhat trust in Metropolitan Epiphanius, the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU); 45.3% of participants trust Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC). Conversely, trust in Metropolitan Onufriy, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, is significantly lower at only 23%, with a distrust level reaching 37%.
When asked about the future of the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate), 34.7% of Ukrainians support its liquidation, while 10.8% favor directing the church towards unification with the OCU. Additionally, 31.7% of respondents believe there should be no interference in the UOC's activities, and nearly 23% had no definitive answer on the matter.
In terms of religious belief, 69.9% of those surveyed stated they believe in God, while 17.4% believe in a higher power without identifying it as a specific God. Meanwhile, 10% reported that they do not believe in God at all.
Most respondents — 70.2% — consider themselves Orthodox Christians. Among them, 35.2% belong to the OCU, 18.3% to the UOC, and the largest group, 46.5%, identifies simply as “Orthodox.”
Additionally, 9.7% of respondents identified as Greek Catholics, 1.4% as Roman Catholics, and 1.6% as Protestants. Notably, 14.7% of those surveyed did not associate with any specific denomination.
The survey was conducted from June 6 to June 11, 2025, using face-to-face interviews with 2,000 respondents aged 18 and older across Ukraine, excluding temporarily occupied territories and areas of active hostilities.
