If we elect bandits again, we may end up with third Maidan, says Lubomyr (Husar)
“In order to not miss the chance we have to work. Stop stealing, taking bribes and raking in money, and start working for the society.” This opinion was expressed by Archbishop Emeritus Lubomyr (Husar) in an interview with Krayina (The Country) magazine.
The Patriarch expresses hope that today is a lot more people who want to change than in 2004. "To not miss the chance we have to work. Stop stealing, taking bribes and raking money in, and start working for the benefit of society. It looks like a blast – imagine a large wave of water that is approaching. And with God’s help and through our hard work we won’t miss out on it. But if we elect bandits in Parliament again, as before, we will squander away the second Maidan too. Then we may end up with the third one. But I hope for the best, for a generation that is not tainted by Soviet customs and thinking has come. They are surrounded by lots of older people who are willing to work for the changes,” said the spiritual leader of the Ukrainian nation.
He believes that Ukrainians still have to work a lot to build up a democratic country. “But be careful. Do you follow the election campaign? Quality of elections, philosophy of the MPs, the way they continue buying and selling souls, all that shows: there is a lot of work to do yet,” says the Archbishop.
However, His Beatitude argues that today “there is nothing that could hinder our movement.” “Is it just our laziness or foolishness,” said the Archbishop, as reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.
