In London, the enthronement date for UGCC bishop Ken Nowakowski is determined
On April 7, 2020, the enthronement of the new ruling bishop, His Eminence Ken Novakivsky, will take place at the Cathedral of the Holy Family in London. The Episcopal Liturgy, which will be led by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head of the UGCC, will begin at 10:30. This is reported by the UGCC Information Department.
On January 15, 2020, Pope Francis appointed Bishop Ken Novakivsky as the Bishop of the London Eparchy of the Holy Family of the UGCC, transferring him from the new Diocese fo New Westminster of the UGCC in Canada.
Information about the Eparchy of the Holy Family
Seven years ago, on January 18, 2013, it was reported in the Vatican that Pope Benedict XVI brought to the dignity of the eparchy the then Apostolic Exarchate for Ukrainians of the Byzantine rite living in the UK, giving it the title of the Eparchy of the Most Holy Family with a center in London. The Apostolic Exarchate for Ukrainians of the Byzantine rite in England and Wales was established in 1957, and in 1968 its jurisdiction extended to the whole of Great Britain.
Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Hlib Lonchyna as irs first eparch, later in January 2019, Pope Francis appointed him administrator of the vacant residence of the Paris Eparchy of St. Volodymyr, and on 1 September received the abdication of governance by the ruling Bishop of the London Eparchy of the Holy Family of the UGCC and the Apostolic Visitator for Ukrainians of the Byzantine rite in Ireland.
