In the German city of Hanover on February 18, Christians of the Eastern and Western rites jointly prayed for an end to the war in Ukraine.

This is reported by the UGCC Information Department.

The prayer event organized by priest Roman Maksymtssv was attended by believers from Italian, Polish and German parishes, led by priests don Piotr Gutsal, Tadeusz Kluba and Alexander Lavrentiev. Ukrainians also prayed together with them. The prayer was held in a mixed format, which was also joined by users of the internet platform.

"In our common prayer, we hope that God will change history, give everyone the strength and desire to live in peace. Let us be confident that we can be happy with God. Don't be afraid of what happens the next day. Our lives are in God's hands, so we pray for peace and avoiding danger in Ukraine," says Father Roman Maksimtsev, dean of the Apostolic Exarchate, rector of St. Vladimir's Church in Hanover.

Taize prayer was voiced in four languages - Ukrainian, Italian, Polish and German. During the prayer period, they sang excerpts from Psalms and reflected on the Holy Scriptures. The prayer evening ended with the spiritual anthem of Ukraine.
