In Tokyo (Japan), within the framework of the conference "Seeking Paths of Reconciliation During War," representatives from the governmental sector, non-governmental organizations, and world religions from four continents discussed global humanitarian crises in the world in general and in Ukraine in particular.

This was reported by the UGCC Information Department.

This event started on February 18 and will conclude on the 22nd.

This is the second time that the interreligious Tokyo International Roundtable on Peace Issues is taking place at the initiative of the World Council of Religions for Peace (WCRP).

According to statistics, today more than 360 million people in the world need humanitarian assistance, of which over 110 million are forcibly displaced persons due to war, persecution, or human rights violations. That is why the interreligious platform "Religions for Peace," in cooperation with the Alliance of Civilizations of the United Nations, initiated a discussion involving representatives of various world religions who have experience serving their peoples from more than 20 countries worldwide.

With the blessing of the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Chairman of the Commission on Interconfessional and Interreligious Relations, Protoiereus Ihor Shaban, participates in the conference. In his speech, the priest drew the attention of the international community to the fact that "the unjust and unprovoked war that Russia started 2 years ago against peaceful Ukraine has brought thousands of deaths and continues to destroy homes, schools, hospitals, and churches. What's worse, all this is supported by the Russian religious structure - the UOC-MP, which has proposed the genocidal ideology of the 'Russian world' and handed it over to the criminal Russian authorities, who use this tool to destroy Ukrainians." The priest emphasized that today's aggression by Russia "is a great challenge not only for all of Christianity but also for other religions of the world."

During their stay in the capital of Japan, members of the Ukrainian delegation met with parliamentarians and the public, and they were received by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, Serhii Korsunskyi.
