Kremlin responds to Zelensky’s proposal for Easter truce
This was reported by UP (Ukrainska Pravda), citing Russian propaganda outlets.
Peskov began interpreting Zelensky's comments about an Easter truce from the Kremlin's perspective. He suggested that Ukraine "desperately" wants to "make a truce", even if only for Easter, because Russian forces are advancing.
Meanwhile, the Russian government spokesperson emphasized that the Kremlin wants Ukraine to decide on a course of action to achieve "peace." "We want to stress once again: Zelensky must take responsibility and make the appropriate decision so that we can attain peace, not just a ceasefire," Peskov stated.
As reported, on March 30, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays and for an energy truce.
"We are ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. In my view, decent people who respect life talk about a ceasefire and an end to the war for good, not just for a few days. But, of course, we are ready for any compromises, except for compromises regarding our dignity and sovereignty."
He emphasized that Ukraine is open to any ceasefire format and the overall end of the war, but only "if it does not compromise the dignity and independence of the state."
