Kyivan Patriarchate to Establish Institute of Church History
The Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) of 20 October decreed to establish in Kyiv an Institute of Church History. It is to become a separate scholarly research institution of UOC-KP, reported the web site of UOC-KP.
The Institute will be headed by Metropolitan Dymytrii (Rudiuk) of Lviv and Sokal.
The bishops of UOC-KP decided to entrust the institute with the task of research work in the history of Ukrainian Orthodox Church and related areas with the participation of the leading specialists from Theological and secular institutions. One of the primary lines of activity of the institute will be to prepare and publish a fundamental History of the Ukrainian Church from the time of the Apostles.
