On August 25, 2025, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, held a meeting at his residence with Robert Rehak, the President of the International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance (IRFBA). Rehak is also Special Envoy for Holocaust, Interfaith Dialogue, and Freedom of Religion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of the OCU's Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva, a representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Bohdan Movchan, and Melaniia Sliusarchuk, assistant to the ambassador, according to the OCU press service.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the current challenges facing Ukrainian society and religious communities in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as issues related to the protection of religious freedom. In particular, they addressed the activities of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, which unites representatives from various denominations and consistently defends the principle of freedom of religion.

Metropolitan Epifaniy expressed gratitude for the support shown to Ukraine and its people by the international community. He emphasized that the Kremlin regime is attempting to use religion as a tool for influence, stating, “The Kremlin is attempting to use religion as a means of influence. However, truth and justice are on our side, and we will ultimately prevail.”

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue dialogue and cooperation in countering Russian aggression and supporting Ukraine.
