OCU Primate expresses gratitude to Archbishop Elia of Helsinki for supporting Ukraine - фото 1
On October 1, 2025, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine hosted Archbishop Elia of Helsinki and All Finland, Head of the autonomous Finnish Orthodox Church, which is part of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, at his residence.

The meeting was attended by Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva, the deputy head of the OCU's Department for External Church Relations; Archpriest Aleksander Roszczenko, the rector of the parish in Joensuu, Finland; and Elisei Heikkilä, the theological advisor and secretary to the Primate of the Finnish Orthodox Church. This information was reported by the OCU press service.

During the meeting, participants discussed interchurch relations, the current state of world Orthodoxy, potential areas for cooperation, support for displaced Ukrainians, and several other important topics of mutual interest.

Metropolitan Epifaniy expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Archbishop Elia and the entire Finnish Orthodox Church for their unwavering support of Ukraine and the OCU in resisting Russian hybrid aggression, as well as for their care for refugees who have found shelter in Finland.

In response, Archbishop Elia emphasized that the Finnish people and the Orthodox Church sincerely care for and pray for a just and swift peace for Ukraine, as they understand from their own history the severe consequences of war.
