Organizing Committee for Preparation of 1025th Anniversary of Baptism of Kyivan Rus Established
KYIV – The Cabinet of Ministers established an Organizing Committee for the preparation and marking of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus planned for July 2013. The vice prime minister of Ukraine and the deputy head of the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine have been nominated to co-head the committee, reports the Institute of Religious Freedom.
The Direction 215 of the Cabinet of Ministers of February 11, 2010, also nominated the head of the State Committee on Nationalities and Religions to be the deputy co-head of the organizing committee.
According to a preliminary agreement, churches will be represented in the committee by representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, and All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Christians Baptists. The head of the management board of the Institute of Religious Freedom is also included in the committee.
