On January 24, 2025, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All-Ukraine took part in the presentation of the book “St. Sophia of Kyiv – A Thousand-Year-Old Symbol of Ukrainian Statehood” at St. Sophia Cathedral.

According to the press service of the OCU, the event was attended by Director General of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv”, Nelia Kukovalska, authors of the book - Nadiia Nikitenko and Svitlana Chorna, Deputy Director General for Scientific Work of the Conservation Area Viacheslav Kornienko, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy Archpriest Vitaly Klos, Head of the Scientific Center for Ukrainian Statehood Oleksandr Sviatotsky, Director of the Dnipro Publishing House Volodymyr Demchak, scholars and guests.

Before the presentation, the Blagovist band performed ancient spiritual hymns in the cathedral.

In his address to the audience, the head of the autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church spoke, in particular, about the importance of the scientific work of researchers who reveal our true history in their works.

“We must know our history well and learn from the past so as not to repeat mistakes. There is a struggle now because the enemy has also come to fully appropriate our history. Spiritual, historical, and cultural factors are very important, and the aggressor is well aware of this. Therefore, we must do everything to win and preserve our identity and freedom and build our Church. After all, the Church is the spiritual foundation of our Ukrainian state. Our strength and our future success is in unity and hope in God,” Metropolitan Epifaniy said.
