Representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarch will perform a divine service in the restored St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv
The liturgy will be held on the occasion of the completion of the 11-year restoration of St. Andrew's Church, which will now become the main church of the Stavropegia, that is, the representative office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine.
At about 12:00, representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and Bishop Mykhailo (Anishchenko) of Komana, will hold a briefing on the work of the Ecumenical Patriarch's Stavropegia in Ukraine on the steps of St. Andrew's church.
After the solemn service, a short concert of sacred music will be held performed by the "Khoreya Kozatska" group under the direction of Taras Companichenko.
In order to avoid the spread of COVID-19, a live broadcast of the service was also organized at the link: https://211floor.com/stream/99019f74-3159-11eb-a08c-00155e00fb05.
Note that the decision to restore its stavropegia in Kyiv was made by the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople under the chairmanship of Patriarch Bartholomew on October 11, 2018.
On October 18, 2018, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law "on the specifics of using St. Andrew's Church of the National Reserve "Sofia of Kyiv", according to which St. Andrew's Church was transferred to permanent and free use to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
