Russian troops destroy an old wooden church in Donetsk region
This was reported on February 19 on the website of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration (RMA), according to Suspilne.
“In February 2025, the church was destroyed by Russian shelling. The first mention of the church in the settlement of Andriivka dates back to 1793. The first church was consecrated in 1795, and in 1886 it was replaced by a new building with a bell tower. The church gradually developed,” the RMA said.

According to the administration, as of January 2025, 164 cultural heritage sites were recorded in the Donetsk region that had been damaged or destroyed due to hostilities. The monuments of the Mariupol, Sviatohirsk and Bakhmut communities, which are included in the List of Historical Settlements of Ukraine, suffered the most.
