This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Ilka Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Razumkov Center's sociological service, published at a press conference in Ukrinform.

"The absolute majority of citizens support the president's decision to impose sanctions on the highest clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. We see that there are the majority of such people among all faiths, except for the believers of the UOC-MP themselves. Still, even there, a third of respondents believe that the president did the right thing when he imposed sanctions on the highest clergy. In the whole country, 54% fully support the President's decision on sanctions, and 24% are more likely to support it," said Petro Burkovsky, executive director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

According to the survey, the lowest support for introducing sanctions against the highest clergy of the UOC-MP is among residents of the South, where only 34% support this decision.

The greatest support for sanctions is shown by parishioners of the OCU – 88%.

The survey was conducted by the Ilka Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Razumkov Center's sociological service with the support of the MATRA program from December 13 to 21.

It was conducted by the face-to-face method in 22 regions and the city of Kyiv (in Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kherson regions – only in those territories controlled by the government of Ukraine and where there are no military operations).

2018 respondents aged 18 and over were surveyed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
