“The combination of faith and professionalism will lead the country to success,” - Christian professionals
On the eve of the Sumit of the Alliance of Christian Professionals on April 20-21 in Kyiv, we conducted a blitz survey of the leaders of professional associations that are part of the Alliance. Wishing to discuss certain practical aspects, we asked the following questions:
1. Why does Ukrainian society need Christian professionals?
2. What can your association offer to our society?
3. How exactly can the Summit of the Alliance of Christian Professionals be beneficial for your association and your professional activity?
“Professional activity of Christians is part of our gospel, i.e. a notification to the world about God”
Ruslan KUKHARCHUK, President of the NGO Novomedia Association:
1. Work and civic responsibility doctrine is part of Christian ethics. All this is directly related to professional activity. Christ taught: “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Our vocation is to perform deeds and take action. The professional activity of Christians is part of our gospel, that is, telling the world about God. Yet we should not forget that religious people are honest and conscientious. Therefore even in the times of the atheistic Soviet government, religious professionals were valued at work. There is great hope Christians will be able to bring high ethical standards to various social-creating professions.
2. The Association of Christian Journalists “Novomedia” is designed to promote social harmony. We act as a link between churches and secular mass media. The goal is to reduce the level of mutual misunderstanding. We work to help churches become understandable to the information society and help journalists understand the role of faith and the church in social processes.
3. Communication is the key to success. We, journalists, must be in close contact with other Christian professional communities. It is in these circles that we find experts for our media materials, and we also receive professional advice from specialized specialists.
“The combination of faith and professionalism will lead the country to success”
Oleksandr KUSHNERUK, president of the Association of Young Christian Entrepreneurs
1. During the Reformation, Christian professionals changed the Western world and its economy. One’s faith was reflected in more than a person’s morality. Also, the concept of serving God through one’s profession appeared. In this way, work was not viewed as a duty but as the fulfillment of God’s will and His calling. Today, in times of decline, politicians, economists, and scientists say that returning Christian values to society will allow us to return the lost gains. This, of course, also applies to Ukraine. The combination of faith and professionalism will surely lead the people and the country to success.
2. The Association of Young Christian Entrepreneurs primarily promotes the education of a spiritually healthy generation of citizens and the integration of spiritual values into entrepreneurial activity. Through its activities, the organization conveys to young people the need to be socially mature, creative, active citizens, and patriots. As for the practical aspect, we encourage entrepreneurs to take responsibility for the quality and results of their businesses.
3. The Summit for the Association allows people to get acquainted with the experience and work of other associations. In addition, quite well-known speakers are invited to participate in the Summit, so it will be interesting to hear their vision of the situation in Ukraine. In addition, this allows the Association to present its activities and introduce the plans to other participants.
“Ukrainian society needs another example of behavior - a Christian one”
Andrii SOMOV, president of the Association of Christian Lawyers of Ukraine:
1. Christian professionals are bearers of biblical values that motivate them to adhere to the law and listen to their conscience. Secular people do not have such internal motivation.
2. I think Ukrainian society needs another example of behavior (in politics, business, jurisprudence and other spheres). I believe that only professional Christians can set such an example.
3. First, acquaintance and communication with respectable people inspire and motivate people to achieve success and serve the Homeland and the Church of Christ. Second, the opportunity to make acquaintances and contacts that may be required in professional activities. Third, it lets you adopt the experience of wise and experienced people.
“Ukrainian society needs Christian professionals”
Roman SMYRNY, Head of the Christian Medical Youth Association of Ukraine:
1. Ukrainian society needs Christian professionals to change the negative trends observed in the country in recent years. In particular, it is about the immoral lifestyle of many people. Most often – young people, among whom the number of drug and alcohol addicts has increased, as well as the number of cases of domestic violence...
2. The Christian Youth Medical Association invites everyone to participate in holding annual all-Ukrainian medical conferences and other events to promote a healthy lifestyle and oppose abortions... By the way, the best foreign and domestic specialists are involved in holding conferences, seminars and master classes.
3. The Summit of Christian professionals will help the leaders of our Association to realize these difficult aspirations to increase the spirituality and morality of our society by attracting highly moral people to the professional spheres, where they will share their experience.
“The world can be saved by the union of people”
Alla Andrukhnenko, President of the Association of Christian Artists:
1. The driving force for the development of any society is the work of professionals - professional politicians, competent lawyers, and highly qualified doctors... By professing Christian values, these people encourage others to focus on morality and spirituality.
2. The Association of Christian Artists, as the name implies, includes artists. Artists are creative individuals. In their works, they reflect the “spirit” of their society. By inviting artists to participate in our projects, we direct them to study the Bible and know Christ. This prompts artists to create paintings that glorify eternal values. Today, when paintings have become the equivalent of capital, the content of canvases becomes especially important. It makes clear what we as a society consider our capital.
3. Cooperation with the Alliance of Christian Professionals significantly expands the scope of our association’s work. Meetings with interesting people and joint projects help mutual understanding and strengthening of various Christian currents and denominations. The world can be saved by the union of people.
