The head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav, congratulated Pope Francis on Christmas and thanked him for his support and solidarity with the long-suffering Ukrainian people.

The head of the UGCC said this in his daily address on December 25, reports the UGCC Information Department.

"Congratulating you, Holy Father, on this holiday, we would like to thank you for becoming the core of universal solidarity with the long-suffering Ukrainian people. We were all touched by your tears in the Spanish Square in Rome on the day of the Immaculate Conception, when for about 30 seconds, you could not speak but wept deeply over the grief of Ukraine. We thank you for organizing countless types of assistance that the Ecumenical Catholic Church sends to the long-suffering Ukrainian people," the Primate said.

The head of the UGCC noted that at this Christmas time, the Holy Father once again sent his envoy — Cardinal Krajewski, who brought thermal underwear from Italian skiers, and it had already gone to the front to warm our soldiers. A large number of generators were brought from the pope to light up the homes of those whom the Russian occupier would like to plunge into darkness.

"Through such concrete gestures of Christian love, we feel that God is with us, we feel that we are not forgotten or abandoned in our troubles, that the Lord God is coming to be born in Ukraine today," the UGCC Primate stressed.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav also congratulated all believers of the UGCC in different parts of the world, all Christians who are now celebrating the birth of the Savior.
