I am appealing to the World Health Organization, to various international institutions and organizations, such as Doctors Without Borders: speak out in defense of life in Ukraine!

This appeal was made by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in his daily address on the 23rd day of Russia's bloody war against Ukraine.

“Thank you for the support you are providing for our doctors today, but speak out to the whole world to stop the killing of children in Ukraine immediately!” His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized.

The Primate noted that this night bombs and rockets fell on the heads of civilians again. It happened in Sumy, Donetsk region, Luhansk region, Mykolayiv, as well as in western Ukraine, particularly in Lviv. "But Ukraine cannot be intimidated. Ukraine is struggling. Ukraine is fighting for the right for its own freedom and independence. Ukraine is standing”, the Head of the Church noted.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that the entire UGCC continues praying daily, first of all, for our army, which stopped a large number of enemies who no longer invade into our country, but turned to the so-called total war.

Today the clergy and the faithful are especially praying for our medical workers: doctors, nurses, paramedics - all those who are the first to touch the inexpressible human pain in Ukraine and become almost the main targets of various attacks and blows of the enemy on civilians.

According to official data from the Ministry of Health, 117 hospitals and medical facilities in Ukraine have been directly attacked in the past few weeks, seven of which have been completely damaged beyond repair. 43 ambulances were shot, many doctors and medical workers died.

“Today we thank the Lord for the heroic service of our physicians to our people… Our doctors continue saving people’s lives in Ukraine”, he said.

The Head of the UGCC also commended the work of doctors who are helping to give birth to children in cold hospitals without electricity in Chernihiv, Mariupol, Kharkiv and other besieged cities of Ukraine.
