UGCC churches to set up bomb shelters for children's education
This is stated in the message of the UGCC Information Department.
The Primate also invited school principals to visit the nearest Greek Catholic churches in order to equip and, if necessary, use church dungeons to protect children during air alarms.
"So that these dungeons are not only proper bomb shelters but also that the educational process can continue there for those children who need shelter. We are ready to serve!"His Beatitude Sviatoslav reiterated.
The head of the UGCC also noted that Ukraine is preparing for the start of the new academic year, starting on September 1.
"We know how much teachers miss their students and students, and they miss the community of their classes, courses, friends, acquaintances and relatives. At a time when the Ukrainian state is preparing to start full-time education in schools and universities, the minister of Education appealed to help guarantee the safety of our schoolchildren and students during air alarms," His Beatitude Sviatoslav said.
He added: "War steals your childhood and youth. Instead of thinking about studying, about education, many of you think about war, many will probably not be able to sit down at a school desk on September 1. Obviously, your teachers will do everything possible to open access to training in a way that is available to you. But our Church, mother and teacher, also wants to serve you here!"
