On Thursday, March 31, the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, met with the Commissioner for Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremin.

The meeting was held at the latter's request, reports the UGCC Information Department.

The parties discussed the war-related challenges that Ukraine's language policy is facing. In particular, they discussed the extent to which the provisions of the law 'On Language' are being implemented in Ukraine to date and how to ensure the right to study in the Ukrainian language, particularly for internally displaced persons and migrants.

The participants exchanged views on ways to serve the Ukrainian people in the language issue so that the Ukrainian language develops, is preserved and has a real right that Ukrainians can count on, both in Ukraine and abroad.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav shared with the interlocutor his experience of teaching the Ukrainian language in parish schools of the UGCC outside of Ukraine, particularly in Argentina.

The parties discussed the need to develop the state program of the Ukrainian language, in particular the main provisions of the program of courses for internally displaced persons, and agreed to coordinate efforts to make the implementation of the law on the Ukrainian language a reality for the people in Ukraine and abroad.
