Zelensky thanked the Ecumenical Patriarchate for joining the Peace Summit communiqué
This was stated in his post on the social network X, Ukrinform reports.
"I am grateful to the Ecumenical Patriarchate for joining the communiqué of the Global Peace Summit. The document remains open for signing, and I am confident that more countries and international organizations will join it," Zelensky said.
According to him, Ukraine continues to work to unite the world around the goal of a just peace for the country, based on the UN Charter and international law.
"Ukraine and all Ukrainians are grateful to His All-Holiness Bartholomew for his prayers and constant attention to our country and people," the President added.
As reported, the Ecumenical Patriarchate joined the signatories of the joint communiqué of the Peace Summit, which took place over the weekend in Switzerland.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew participated in the Peace Summit and called maintaining peace a joint duty and mission.
The Peace Summit was held on June 15-16 in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock. It discussed nuclear security, food security, and the humanitarian dimension - the exchange of prisoners and the return of abducted Ukrainian children.
The final document was signed by 80 states and 4 organizations. Two countries later withdrew their signatures.
The communiqué remains open for accession.
The results of the Peace Summit will be presented to representatives of the Russian Federation.
