Amusement Park opens in Kamyanets-Podilsky at a Jewish cemetery

In Kamyanets-Podilsky, in the cemetery in the neighborhood “October” where 23,000 Jews are buried, an amusement park was opened. It was reported by VAAD.

On August 8, 1941, in the Old City the Germans established a ghetto in which the entire Jewish population of the canyon moved, and only 27-28 August the Nazis began mass executions. About 12,000 Jews were shot. In the outskirts of Kamyanets, on its northern border (now the area of "October" neighborhood), in August 1941, 7000 Hungarian and Slovak Jews were shot, and in September in the Nazis killed 11,000 foreign Jews. Now, there is a small memorial in the place of mass executions – four monuments with plaques. However, in reality the whole territory of today's park in the neighborhood “October” is a big cemetery.

In Soviet times, most of the graves were destroyed, and only this small area remained. And in place of the mass graves were erected the trampolines, shooting and playgrounds.

In 2015, during the opening of the Memorial Holocaust in Kamyanets, the governor of Khmelnytsky and now head of the regional council Mikhail Zagorodny said that “The Jewish action in Kamyanets-Podilsky was a kind of Rubicon in politics destruction. Here they killed for the first time not only men Jews, but also women and children. The Nazi hammer of atrocities began its bloody harvest at full capacity without discrimination and charity. May the memory of those who died be eternal.” But this did not prevent installing attractions on a mass grave.
