Archbishop of UOC-KP Complains to Public Prosecutor General Against Ukraine's President
Archbishop Klement (Kushch) of the Crimea of te Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate addressed the Prosecutor General, Viktor Pshonka with a request to oblige Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych to give a response to the address 443/15228-01 of the faithful of UOC-KP of 16.03.2012.
The archbishop reminded that on 16 March, a number of known persons of the Crimea, clergymen, scholars, journalists, representatives of the Armed Forces addressed Ukraine’s President with a letter complaining about the 15 years’ delay in allocation of land plots for the construction of churches of UOC-KP. In particular, in 2008, the authorities allocated to UOC-KP a plot for the construction of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Simferopol in the Kyivska Street. However, on 16 February, 2012, the Simferopol City Council passed a decision to refuse the allocation.
“We are said to state it but the fact is that there has still been known response to our address which is in violation of the Law of Ukraine “On addresses of citizens” and Law of Ukraine “On Information,” the web site of UOC-KP quoted Archbishop Klyment as saying.
