On September 25-26, the first All-Ukrainian Meeting of Widows representing the women’s ministry from different regions of the country, was held in Kyiv at the headquarters of the Ukrainian Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith of Ukraine.

This is reported by the website of the Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith of Ukraine.

The purpose of the meeting is to unite and tool up the sisters for more active and purposeful service.

The meeting began with a video about a biblical widow from the city of Nain, whom Jesus Christ pitied and raised her son from the dead. The theme of the meeting was ‘My Nain’. Sisters who have experienced the loss of their husbands loved ones, and found comfort in the Lord, like no one else, are able to comfort those who have a hard time with a personal loss.

“In Ukraine, there is a growing need to serve widows, not only in churches but also outside them. Now there are many women who received this status as a result of the war in the East. No one can comfort them, very often their tears do not dry up, so Christian women, sisters who have passed the valley of weeping, should go to these people and show them how Jesus comforts those who are in mourning,” says Vira Derkach, director of the Department of Women’s Ministry of the Ukrainian Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith of Ukraine.

According to Zoya Vyborna, coordinator of labor with widows, more than 40 delegates from almost all regions came to the meeting. “These are sisters who want to work. They do not always have enough knowledge, skills and practice, but they are ready to carry the word of God, the power of God, the love of God, in order to show by their own example that everything can be done with God,” says the minister.

Guests from Moscow shared their experience of how the ministry with widows is organized and works in American churches attended by Ukrainians. Sacramento Olena Volkova and Larisa Bubela. The delegates also shared their own experiences, adopted the vision of the Nursing Council, and, according to many, received special inspiration for purposeful service to widows in their churches and localities.
