More than a hundred church buildings damaged in the Donetsk region over two years of the full-scale invasion

110 church buildings in the Donetsk region were damaged by Russian shelling in 2022-2024.

This was reported by the Donetsk Regional State Administration on its website, according to Suspilne.

According to the RSA (Regional State Administration), the following buildings have repeatedly come under fire:

- The State Historical and Architectural Reserve in Sviatohirsk, which includes 26 monuments of church architecture,
- The Church of All Saints,
- St. Nicholas Church in Bakhmut,
- The Church of the Intercession in the village of Klishchiyivka,
- The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Novoekonomichne,
- St. Nicholas Church in Avdiivka,
- The Church of the Miracle of the Archangel Michael in the village of Novomykhailivka,
- St. Demetrius Church in the village of Verkhniotoretske,
- St. George's Church in the village of Oleksandro-Shultyne and others.

"Many other cultural and heritage sites in the Donetsk region were damaged by the war. The loss of each monument means the loss of a part of our history. This is a reminder to us of the need to protect our cultural heritage and the price we pay for our freedom," the statement reads.

In the Donetsk region, more than seventy churches and temples have been destroyed or damaged due to the war - this is the data on the consequences of the full-scale invasion from February 24, 2022, to early May 2023, which is available to the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
