New Law on Domestic and Foreign Policy of Ukraine Concerns Religious Issues
KYIV – The Supreme Council of Ukraine on 1 July, 2010, passed the Law of Ukraine On the Principles of Domestic and Foreign Policy. Out of 279, 259 deputies voted for the law. The law defines the principles of the domestic and foreign policy of Ukraine in developing statehood, local self-government, and stimulating the development of the regions, forming institutes of civil society, national security and defense in economic, social, and humanitarian areas, ecological area, and technological security, and principles of the foreign policy of Ukraine.
Two articles of the passed law concern the revival of spiritual values of the Ukrainian nation and the creation of conditions for developing the religiousness of the citizens of Ukraine of all nationalities, ensuring the freedom of conscience and confession.
Article 10 of the law defines the principles of the domestic policy in the humanitarian area. Article 11 deals with the creation of favorable conditions of foreign policy for the development of the Ukrainian nation and religiousness of the citizens of Ukraine of all nationalities.
