Pentecostals in Ternopil Complain to Public Prosecutor About Actions of Police

The Ternopil Region Association of Churches of Evangelical Faith (ACEF) approached Public Prosecutor of Ternopil Oblast Ivan Melnychuk and Commissioner on Human Rights in the Supreme Council of Ukraine Nina Karpachova with a request to interfere in the matter of a cruel beating by Ternopil police of the youth leader of the Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith in the town of Zbarazh.

milicia.jpgThe Ternopil Region Association of Churches of Evangelical Faith (ACEF) approached Public Prosecutor of Ternopil Oblast Ivan Melnychuk and Commissioner on Human Rights in the Supreme Council of Ukraine Nina Karpachova with a request to interfere in the matter of a cruel beating by Ternopil police of the youth leader of the Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith in the town of Zbarazh.

According to the press service of ACEF, the incident occured on August 30-September 1 of 2011. Policemen detained the minister of the church and beat him to make him admit involvement in the murder of an elderly woman in Zbarazh. The representatives of the All-Ukrainian and Ternopil Region Association of Churches of Evangelical Faith deny any involvement of the young man in the murder and express concern over the actions of the police.

According to the press service of the association, the matter is being investigated.
