Rep of Kyiv Patriarchate Stresses That Existing Law on Freedom of Worship Suits All Denominations
The head of the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, Bishop Yevstratii (Zoria), stated that the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations asks Ukraine’s president to veto Bill 1021 which envisages alterations to the Law on Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations, reported Komentariv.
According to the hierarch, the bill is not acceptable for the religious organizations either with regard to its form or content. In particular, the churches do not agree with the incomplete procedure of passing thereof.
The bishop noted that the existing Law on the Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations, which was passed in 1991, is not perfect but suits all the denominations and religious organizations in Ukraine.
