The Primate of the OCU met with a delegation of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, which arrived to celebrate the 1033rd anniversary of the baptism of Rus-Ukraine
The Primate of the second most honored Patriarchate of Alexandria is represented by Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Theodore of Babylon and Archimandrite George, the official website of the OCU reports.
The meeting was also attended by Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, deputy head of the OCU's Department for External Church Relations.
On behalf of Patriarch Theodore, the Bishop of Babylon conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes to the icon of the Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy-Bearer. Members of the delegation also presented Metropolitan Epifaniy with a pastoral staff made in Egypt.
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Pope and Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria.
In memory of the visit, the guests received a Panagia and a cross with the donation inscription of the Metropolitan of Kyiv.
On July 27-28, 2021, a delegation of the Patriarchate of Alexandria will take part in festive services in St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral of Kyiv.
