Semynozhenko to Coordinate Church-State Relations
KYIV – On March 11, 2010, according to the decision of the people’s deputies on the formation of the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Supreme Council of Ukraine appointed Volodymyr Semynozhenko as the Vice Prime Minister for Humanitarian Affairs. According to his job description, he will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the state policy in the area of church-state relations and in developing the dialogue and cooperation between the government and the denominations, reports the Institute of Religious Freedom.
Semynozhenko, in commenting his vision of the job to commersanr.ua, stated : “The main thing we need to remember is that Ukraine is a multi-ethnic country. European cultural values are important for Ukraine but each region in the country has its own specific needs. And these should be respected.”
